We can keep Asian Pears in our Controlled Atmosphere storage just like apples. This way you can enjoy them in the fall and in the spring!

Bosc Pears are like wine, they are better with age. While we harvest our Bosc Pears in the fall, we opt to store them over the winter, giving them time to age and then bringing them to market in the spring.

We have special storage conditions which allow us to keep apples from the time their are harvested in the fall, through the winter, and available in the spring months at market. This special storage is called Controlled Atmosphere (CA). In a CA storage, the storage room is filled with bins of apples in the fall, sealed, and then the majority of the oxygen is removed from the refrigerated room. By removing the oxygen, the apples are no longer permitted to respire which prevents them from further ripening. This storage technology allows us to bring crisp, crunchy and juicy apples to market almost year round for you to enjoy!!
